MO,3/2/2018, KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s show of support towards DRB-HICOM Bhd enabled the company to pave its way in technological advancements. Its group managing director Datuk Seri Syed Faisal Albar said without the support and trust of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, DRB-HICOM would not have reached its success. “Without the support and trust of the prime minister, we will not be here today with such confidence and spirit.
“We pledge that we will translate prime minister and the government’s trust as an inspiration for our desire to develop Proton City. “Paving the way towards high-tech fields and advancing Tanjung Malim as an international standard automotive hub, enabling us to create a name in Asia and across the world,” he said in his speech at the launch of the National Automotive Cluster (NAC) at Proton City in Tanjung Malim today.
Faisal added that the highest appreciation was for the prime minister. “The prime minister has chosen to look forward and although he wasn’t involved in past issues, he still had faith in us and used the Proton Perdana as an official vehicle. “His sincerity we truly appreciate. We from DRB-HICOM and Proton are aware of this,” he said. In his speech, he also thanked the Perak government, International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI), Finance Ministry, Malaysian Automotive Institutes and agencies involved in supporting DRB-HICOM.
Present at the event were Najib, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, MITI Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Second MITI Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tan. The NAC, a 396ha area carved out within the sprawling Proton City development, is designed to be an industrial park dedicated for local and foreign vendors.
