Kes cabul atlet wanita Larry Nassar dihukum penjara 125 tahun lagi

Aphrodisiacs That Really Work | Reader’s Digest

Korean red ginseng

GinsengChoe Hyeonsu/shutterstock

We already knew that gingseng (also known as “ashwagandha”) is a natural alternative treatment for low sexual desire and erectile dysfunction. But Elizabeth West, MD and Michael Krychman, MD, authors of a study that’s a comprehensive review of all existing scientific journal articles on the subject of aphrodisiacs—approximately 50 as of 2015—found that one particular variety, Korean red ginseng, can improve sexual arousal in menopausal women.

Because ginseng can interfere with blood clotting, you should avoid it prior to surgery. And it has estrogenic effects, so you should avoid it if you’ve been diagnosed with a hormone-sensitive cancer.

Check out these other natural ways to boost your libido.

Ginkgo biloba

Ginkgonixki/Shutterstock

Practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine use ginkgo biloba to treat dizziness, believing that it increases circulation and blood flow to the brain. Drs. West and Krychman found it may actually improve the sexual response of both men and women who are experiencing sexual side effects from using antidepressants with selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI) (although they see a need for additional research to confirm this).

Ginkgo can interfere with clotting, and that effect can be magnified if you’re already taking aspirin or any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and should be discontinued prior to surgery.

Maca

MacaMaraZe/Shutterstock

A cousin of the radish, maca root, is known for improving circulation. Maca has also been scientifically proven to heighten sexual desire in men and alleviate menopause symptoms in women. Drs. West and Krychman’s study research confirms that maca may enhance libido in both men and women and improve erectile function, as well as potentially correcting sexual side effects caused by SSRIs.

That said, maca contains phytosterols and phytoestrogens, and although it has not been found to directly alter hormone levels, further research is needed to determine its potential adverse effects

Check out these 31 steamy tricks to boost your sex drive.

ArginMax

Arginnito/Shutterstock

ArginMax is a combination supplement containing vitamins A, B, C, and E and also Korean ginseng and gingko bilboa. Drs. West and Krychman found that it may actually do the trick, in terms of improving sexual desire and sexual satisfaction and also increasing the frequency of sexual intercourse. Specifically, in women, ArginMax was found to increase lubrication, clitoral sensitivity, and orgasm frequency.

Here’s what you need to know about sex in your 40s.

For women only: Zestra massage oil

ZestraBoxyPics/Shuttetstock

Zestra is a massage oil containing borage, evening primrose, and angelica root and is designed to enhance female arousal and orgasm after applying it to the clitoris and labia. Its label states that it causes “tingling” or a “rushing” sensation. Drs. West and Krychman found that studies show it to be an effective aphrodisiac for women. There are no clinical studies of Zestra usage in men.

Fenugreek

FenugreekSea Wave/Shutterstock

Fenugreek is known to help nursing mothers increase their milk supply. It also has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine as an aphrodisiac, and a 2011 study showed that fenugreek boosted sex drive in men experiencing low libido. Drs. West and Krychman found evidence that it can, in fact, improve male sexual arousal and orgasm, and that it can improve sexual function (arousal, lubrication, and satisfaction) in premenopausal women.

Because fenugreek contains precursors to estrogen and testosterone, and because in studies, its users show increased levels of hormones, the doctors recommend that people with hormonally active cancers steer clear. Fenugreek can also cause blood-thinning and so shouldn’t be used on patients using prescription blood-thinners.

Hersynergy

Her-synergyhxdbzxy/Shutterstock

Hersynergy is an oral supplement that contains B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc, as well as 300 mg of fenugreek. Marketed toward women, it has no published data proving its efficacy. However, as we know, fenugreek shows promise as a sexual enhancer. In addition, zinc is important to the production of that all-important sex hormone, testosterone. So, perhaps clinical data will emerge over time that proves what the doctors suspect may be true about Hersynergy (i.e., that it works!).

Horny goat weed

goatweedHigh Mountain/Shutterstock

Horny goat weed is an herb whose name may inspire the question: which came first? The name? Or what it’s used for? In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s used to treat erectile dysfunction. Drs. West and Krychman say that its mechanism is consistent with that claim, although there have been no large human horny goat weed trials thus far. That means that proof that it works is purely anecdotal, and its toxicity hasn’t been established, which brings us to the next few, whose benefits seem to be outweighed by their risks.

Spanish fly

bugHelloRF Zcool/Shutterstock

Spanish fly’s reputation as a date-rape drug is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it works as an aphrodisiac (by causing blood flow to the sex organs). On the other, it can burn the mouth and throat, lead to infections, kidney failure, and even death. Does it work? Yes. Should you try it? No, according to Drs. West and Krychman. And common sense. Find out foods that can kill your sex drive.

Potency wood

Potencymarilyn barbone/Shutterstock

This Brazilian herb has long been known for its use in improving erectile function and improving low libido. Although Drs. West and Krychman found little in the way of clinical proof, they do recognize that a few small-scale studies show that the herb has promise as an aphrodisiac. Still, further study is required before a clinical recommendation can be made.

As Dr. Krychman tells Reader’s Digest, “Smart consumers should examine the data and recognize that data is often emerging and changing.” So stay tuned, and be sure to check out our list of these 19 foods that are natural aphrodisiacs.

Turut hadir Pengurus Besar Kanan Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Ir Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin dan Pengurus Besar TNB Kelantan Datuk Md Yuslan Mad Yusoff.

– Bernama, 4 Februari, 2018.

TAK PERLU JUAL NAMA PM NAK JADI CALON!!! ~ SEMUT HITAM

Bahang kehangatan Pilihan Raya Umum semakin hari semakin terasa.

What You Should Know Before Getting a Heart Stent

Are stents effective?

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Heart stents have been quite popular, and they may be lifesaving in patients suffering from a heart attack. The procedure opens arteries and relieves blockage that’s causing pain. However, before getting stents in your heart, you’ll want to consider the risks of a heart stent and the level of effectiveness. For instance, a new study, published in the journal The Lancet, suggests that heart stents might not be as helpful in treating more mild heart issues, such as difficulty breathing and chest pain. Here’s what you need to know.

How a stent works

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Patients are mildly sedated—they’re still awake and arousable, but in a bit of a “twilight” state. The doctor then numbs an artery in the wrist or the groin and inserts a small hollow tube that allows access for catheters, says Sameer K. Mehta, MD, a cardiologist with the Denver Heart practice at Rose Medical Center. The physician then performs an angiogram (where dye is inserted through the catheter into the heart arteries and is seen through X-ray equipment). The physician will then determine if there is enough blockage in the arteries where heart stents are needed, he says. The stent—a mesh tube—expands arteries to keep blood flowing. It all sounds straightforward, but stents have landed on the list of 14 risky medical procedures that don’t always pay off.

Recovery

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Following surgery, the patient can usually recover the same day, says Dr. Mehta. Usually, if the stent was placed via the artery in the wrist, the patient won’t require much bedrest, he says. However, “if the femoral artery is utilized, the patient may require anywhere from two to six hours of bedrest,” Dr. Mehta explains.

Which doctor to visit

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Most cardiologists can do the procedure; however, you’ll want to make sure you’re in the best hands possible. That means you’ll want a doctor who is up-to-date on the procedure, reliable, and trustworthy, Dr. Mehta says. “All cardiologists are well-versed at the discussion regarding stents, as are the vast majority of primary care providers,” he says. However, “an interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist who received further training to learn how to implant stents. As such, interventional cardiologists, in general, would be the foremost experts in the field,” he explains. By the way, here are 45 things heart doctors do to protect their own heart.

If you qualify for it

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

The bottom line is that the procedure is performed too often in people who won’t benefit, according to the experts. The Lancet study found that for mild chest pain and breathing trouble, the stents don’t make sense at all. According to Dr. Mehta, “In patients who are stable, the doctor and patient will make a collaborative decision on when to progress to stenting (depending on the angiogram),” he says. They’ll look at how positive—or high risk—their stress test is, if one was done, he explains. The patient’s health will also come into play—would the surgery be dangerous for them? For people who have sudden or unstable heart symptoms, the decision will be more obvious, says Dr. Mehta: A stent may be a life-saving option, at that point.

You could develop restenosis

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

That’s when scar tissue forms within the stent, says Dr. Mehta. “Basically, stents heal when the body’s own cells, known as endothelial cells, line the inside of the stent. This process occurs normally. However, occasionally the body lays down an excessive amount of cells known as fibroblasts within the inside of the stent,” says Dr. Mehta. When this occurs, the artery within the stent basically becomes “blocked” again due to scar tissue, and restenosis can result. Symptoms of restenosis are usually chest pain or shortness of breath, he says.

There’s a risk of internal bleeding

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

This happens if the artery is punctured during the procedure. Because patients are often placed on blood thinners, such as heparin, during the procedure, the bleeding can be problematic and can happen anywhere within the body, says Dr. Mehta. You may also be at risk for a blood clot. “Stent placement is not without risk. Between 1 to 2 percent of patients may develop a blood clot at the site of the stent, with the greatest risk in the first several months after placement. This may further elevate the risk for a heart attack or stroke,” says Robert Glatter, MD, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Northwell Health and attending emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital. Your risk for blood clots may be higher due to this one factor.

You could have a heart attack

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Heart attacks can occur during the stenting procedure as plaque breaks off from the artery, warns Dr. Mehta. As this plaque moves toward the heart, or the artery tears (though rare), a heart attack can be a risk, he explains. “However, most heart attacks from stenting procedures are minor in nature,” he says. Make sure you’re aware of the silent signs of a heart attack.

You might end up with open-heart surgery

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

In a very small percentage of cases, there can also be physical injury to a coronary artery from the catheter, requiring a type of open-heart surgery called a coronary artery bypass grafting or a mid-CAB procedure, says Dr. Glatter. Though rare, your kidney could suffer damage: “The risk of kidney injury from the dye used during stent placement remains an ever-present risk, albeit a small one,” Dr. Glatter says.

With some patients, a stent may trigger an irregular heartbeat. “If arrhythmias occur, we may need to administer special medications or electricity to restore the normal cardiac rhythm,” he adds.

Stents aren’t always needed

heart-stentNicole Fornabaio/rd.com, shutterstock

Before booking an appointment, make sure you’re up-to-date on stent information and that you’re following all the healthy habits that can to protect your heart. “The bottom line is that doctors should approach the treatment of patients with stable coronary artery disease using optimal medical therapy—not stents—and maintain a focus on addressing risk factors, such as not smoking and improving dietary habits, while encouraging ongoing and regular aerobic exercise and physical activity,” says Dr. Glatter.
