Manifesto pembangkang hanya tukar ‘kulit’ sahaja

Beberapa Peranti Sony Xperia Mempunyai Tetapan Sokongan Skrin 120Hz Tersembunyi – Amanz

Rahman Dahlan rubbishes claims that the BN Manifesto is recycled

dahlan-094_1523265028

MO,9/4/2018, KOTA KINABALU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan today rubbished opposition claims that pledges made for Sabah in the Barisan Nasional manifesto were recycled. He said the opposition might have read the wrong documents. “As the minister in charge of the Economic Planning Unit, I was very much part of the manifesto team. Many new subjects were introduced and one of them is to set up English-medium schools.

“This is something extraordinary and we thanked the prime minister for agreeing to the proposals made by the state government and leaders,” he told reporters when met at an engagement session with Sepanggar Chinese schools’ management community here, today. He said establishing English-medium schools in the state would help locals master the language and close the gap between the peninsular, and Sabah and Sarawak.

“So, that’s a big announcement, which I think even (Datuk Seri Mohd) Shafie Apdal has never thought of it,” he said. He also said the government had also agreed to ensure there would be no price difference between the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak at least at the retail level. Using Proton car prices as an example, he said the people of Sabah would no longer have to pay extra RM3,000 to RM4,000 in cost when purchasing a Proton.

“For us in Sabah, this is good news,” he added. He also noted that the BN manifesto touched on the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) as an admission criteria into public universities. “This shows the government cares for the Chinese education system. In moving forward, there should be no question as to whether Chinese schools should exist because we have made that decision at the early stages of our nationhood. The only question is how to strengthen and improve the quality of Chinese schools,” he added.

He said if the bumiputera mastered Chinese dialects, it would be an advantage when dealing with China, a fast growing economy. Mohd Shafie, who is Parti Warisan Sabah president, had in his statement said the manifesto unveiled by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was just an attempt to extend the life of the ruling coalition to another term. He added that the pledges made for Sabah and Sarawak did not make sense as many of them were repeated from the past.

Meanwhile on another matter, he said the decision made by seven Sepanggar Umno division committee members to relinquish their posts will not jeopardise the party. He said Umno and BN had remained united and strong even when seven top Sabah and federal leaders left the coalition, namely Dr Mahathir, Mohd Shafie, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, Datuk Yong Teck Lee, and Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing.

“That is their (seven Sepanggar Umno members) right to decide for themselves. To me, there is no issue…but it is better for them to be with Umno,” he said. The seven Umno Sepanggar members are Sahar Mantamin, Jamrin Wahid, Zaidi Atoh, Ladis Idris, Marino Ahmad, and Din Merin. To date, Sepanggar Umno division had yet to receive resignation letters from them.

Hisham refutes Rafidah’s allegations over military land

hishammuddin hussein
MO,9/4/2018, PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has denied the allegations by Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz that a three-person company owns all the military land in the country.”Rafidah’s allegations that a three-person company  now owns Mindef (Defence Ministry) and military land in Malaysia are not true and an outright lie,” the Defence Minister said in a video posted on his Facebook page on Monday (April 9).

Rafidah, a former Cabinet minister, said in her Facebook post on Sunday (April  8), that then defence minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had , back in 2008, proposed to privatise military land in the country to a three-person company. She claimed that the proposal was made to the government and was then approved. In her post, she had challenged Najib, who is Prime Minister, to clarify whether current on-going projects involved privatising military land.

The projects, which she had listed, were the Bandar Malaysia project at the former Sungai Besi air force base, the relocation of the Majidee  camp, the East Coast Rail Link, the KL-Singapore high speed rail, a large-scale commercial agricultural project, and the sale of the Butterworth air force base.Hishammuddin also clarified that the large-scale commercial agricultural project was the Defence Ministry’s attempt to look at “food security.

“I was only thinking about food security with the Agriculture Minister, and that was  two to three years ago. Nothing has happened  since then,” he said.Hishammuddin also questioned Rafidah’s motives for allegedly making false statements.”I believe she is being very irresponsible as a member of Cabinet at that time, to make false allegations on these issues,” he said.

He added that he will be getting the Ministry and the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) to reply to Rafidah’s other a llegations.”I have asked for the Cabinet minutes to see what her allegations are. We will get to the bottom of this,” he said.

BN expecting to win viewed as positive for market, says analyst

MANIFESTO BN PRU 14

MO,9/4/2018, KUALA LUMPUR : CIMB IB Research expects the local stock market to remain volatile during the campaigning period and make a defensive stand on top of picks such as Axiata, Dialog and Westports.  In a strategy note today, the research house said the US-China trade war tensions is the reason for the volatility.  Furthermore, it viewed the sectors that are potential winners from Barisan Nasional’s (BN) general election 14 (GE14) manifesto to include the consumer and construction sectors.

In a report today, CIMB Research said it believes the market is expecting the ruling coalition — BN — to win with a comfortable majority of Parliament seats.  “BN currently has 133 out of 222 seats in the House of Parliament. We view BN’s widely expected win as neutral to positive for the market. The stock market’s performance post the election, will depend on the degree of selling pressure during the campaigning period and the poll results,” the report stated.

BN’s GE14 manifesto, which was launched on Saturday, resembled an early Budget, with pledges for broad voter bases (low-income households, Felda settlers, females, the elderly and farmers).  The key promises included a top-up on 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) payments, raising the minimum wage to RM1,500 within five years, potential revisions in personal and corporate income taxes, expansion of affordable housing aid, special incentives and funds for Felda settlers, and subsidised public transport passes, broadband and other consumer goods/services.

The BR1M will be introduced for the households income of RM4000 to RM5000, which will receive a total of RM700 in two payments in June and August, while double BR1M handouts will be due in June and August for households earning below RM4000 per month and individuals earning below RM2000 per month.  The statement said the additional BR1M payments amount to at least RM3.71 billion or 0.25% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018, which comes on top of the prior week’s civil servant pay hikes of RM1.46 billion, effective July 1 this year.

New spending commitments imply that the budget deficit is unlikely to improve significantly from the target 2.8% of GDP, despite windfalls from higher oil prices and GDP growth.  The election committees (EC) will hold a special meeting to decide on, as well as announce the nomination and polling dates. During GE13, the EC held its special meeting a week after the dissolution of the Parliament. The local media has reported that the polling date could be in late-April or early- to mid-May, and is likely to be held before May 17 (provisional date for the start of Ramadan).

Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Dato’ Sri Najib Razak dissolved Parliament last Saturday (April 7), clearing the way for the widely-anticipated GE14. The event did not come as a surprise, as the local media had reported the PM could dissolve the Parliament as early as April 6, 2018.  The Election Commission (EC) must call for elections within 60 days and the EC has revealed that there are 14.94 million registered voters.
