MO, 10/4/2018, KUALA LUMPUR: Juara Liga Super empat kali, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) dilihat sebagai destinasi terbaik buat Ronaldinho sekiranya bekas pemain terbaik dunia dari Brazil itu benar-benar serius untuk beraksi dalam kancah bola sepak tempatan.

Jelas bekas pemain tengah Johor, Rizal Sukiman, ini berikutan skuad Harimau Selatan itu memiliki fasiliti berkelas dunia yang sudah pasti mampu menawarkan pengalaman yang sama seperti pernah dirasai Ronaldinho ketika bersama kelab ternama dunia seperti Barcelona, AC Milan dan Paris Saint Germain.

Cops: 31 GE14 troublemakers identified in Terengganu

IGP

MO,10/4/2018, KUALA TERENGGANU: Police here are keeping an eye on 31 potential troublemakers in the state in the run-up to GE14. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun  said the state police had identified the individuals based on its analysis and the individuals’ track records. “We have identified 1,131 troublemakers throughout the country with 31 individuals in Terengganu.

“We need to constantly have our eyes on these individuals throughout the election campaign, so that they will not be able to stir up trouble,” said Mohamad Fuzi at a press conference after attending the Terengganu government’s 211th Police Day ceremony here on Tuesday (April 10). He added that the police have also identified “hotspots” in several locations in the state, including in the Kuala Terengganu and Besut districts.

Fuzi said about 75% of the total police force in Terengganu will be deployed during GE14. “There are about 3,500 police officers in the state, so 75% will be on election duty. The remaining 25% will carry out routine desk duties, but they can be called up as back-up if required,” said Fuzi, adding that the General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit could also be deployed. Also present at the event was Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

Ahmad Razif announced an annual incentive for religious festivals of between RM200 and RM400 for police officers in the state. “We would like to thank the Terengganu government for caring about the officers in the state,” said Fuzi. Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah had earlier Tuesday announced that polling for GE14 is on May 9, which falls on a Wednesday.

Why complain? Weekday polling is not a new thing, says BNSC

Eric See To BN

MO,10/4/2018, PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan should not be complaining about polling for the general election being held on a weekday because the same was done when its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was premier, says the Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications (BNSC) unit. In fact, polling took place on a weekday three times under his premiership, said BNSC deputy director Datuk Eric See-To .

“Dr Mahathir’s first general election as Prime Minister was held on Thursday, April 22, 1982. His last two general elections as Prime Minister in 1995 and 1999 were also held on weekdays – Monday and Tuesday, April 24-25, 1995 and Monday Nov 29, 1999,” he said in a statement Tuesday (April 10). Earlier Tuesday, the Election Commission (EC) announced that polling would be on May 9, which falls on a Wednesday.

See-To added that he understood the decision made by the EC to declare polling day on a weekday. “While I do not speak for the EC, I can understand that there is merit in selecting Wednesday as they may deem this to be fair to all states and not allow results and turn-out rates to be consistent throughout Malaysia and not be skewed in certain states,” he said.

He explained that states like Terengganu, Kedah and Kelantan have their weekends on a Saturday while Friday is considered a half-day. Johor, a key battleground state, also has a weekend that falls on Friday to Saturday. “If the election is set on a Sunday, it will not be fair to those states. Likewise, if an election was set on a Friday, it will not be fair to other states.

“Similarly if the election was set on a Saturday, it would be a half working day for some and a full rest day for others,” See-To said. He noted that even the United States held its presidential elections on Tuesday, Nov 8, 2016.

Trusted Tips to Avoid a Home Improvement Scam

Home improvement scams

Roof repair, worker with yellow gloves replacing red tiles or shingles on house with blue sky as background and copy space.Rob Bayer/ShutterstockEach spring and summer, professional home improvement scammers roam the U.S. in search of victims. They often target people who live in areas recently damaged by weather events and older adults, offering “deals” on home repairs. Scams include using low-quality roofing materials, painting houses with cheap paint, and not doing quality work in the promised time frame. Follow these simple tips to avoid a major headache and being left with an ill-repaired home. Don’t miss the home improvement project will double the value of your home.

Research, research, research

Cropped hands of businessman using laptop on tablewavebreakmedia/ShutterstockBefore you pick a company for your home improvement project do lots of research. A lot of online review sites have been created in the last couple of years that make finding a reputable company much easier. “Researching previous customer opinions will provide potential customers a better idea of what to expect,” says Dina Dwyer-Owens from Neighborly, a community of home service experts. “Confirm that a company has no complaints from the Better Business Bureau, a reputable source for trustworthy businesses.”

Get a contract

Business woman signing contract at officewrangler/ShutterstockDemand a written contract that lists the specific work to be done, costs, materials to be used, start and completion dates, and warranty information on products and installation. Read the fine print carefully and do not permit work before signing it.

To avoid emptying out your pockets paying for endless home repairs, do these things that smart homeowner do once a month.

Communicate

Two construction engineers shake hands in construction siteboonchoke/ShutterstockMake sure you establish a strong connection with your contractor before any work starts. They should know what your expectations are for the project and that those expectations should be outlined in your contract. “Additionally, if the service isn’t living up to expectations from the established agreement, it’s vital to speak about it with the provider. If the company isn’t responding, isn’t open to regular communication or is taking a long time to respond, it may be time to research and hire a new service provider,” Dwyer-Owens says.

Be cautious

Happy european salesman presents his project standing near the entrance doorIakov Filimonov/ShutterstockBe extremely cautious of door-to-door salesman offering to give you to best deal on a home repair project. Take the company’s information and tell them you’ll contact them if you need work done. If the salesman pushes you to make a decision fast, don’t trust them. Always think over big decisions, such as home improvement projects, for at least a day. Be especially wary if the contractor drives a vehicle with no company name and phone number or with out-of-state license plates. Also, after you’ve hired a contractor make sure you know the specific time they’re planning to come and their name. Only let them in your house to do work if the information lines up. Read up on these secrets contractors wish first-time home buyers knew.

Look up the problem yourself

young man in eyeglasses holding cup of coffee and using laptop on windowsillLightField Studios/ShutterstockMany repair technicians will try to charge you for a bigger job than you need so they can make more money. If you know that something is wrong with your house, research how other people have fixed it online. A scam that George Strauch, owner of Glass Doctor in Ramsey, NJ, sees a lot is people being charged for completely new windows when a simple solution was available. “When the temperatures inside and outside the home vary drastically, many windows will build moisture on the inside,” says Strauch. “People believe that something is wrong with their windows and many repair technicians will take advantage of this, suggesting that either their windows are old, not sealing properly, or are cracked.” Then, homeowners end up spending thousands of dollars on new windows that they didn’t actually need.

Get a permit

Close up view of female realtor showing to young couple of buyers flat plan on the sheet of paper sitting on sofa indoors, discussing buying apartment, considering flat purchase, interior layout fizkes/ShutterstockThis is a step that many homeowners skip because they think it’s a waste of time. To avoid a home improvement scam you should always require your contractor to pull a permit. “By doing all work with a permit, the city will then provide inspections to make sure the work was done to code and by law, the contractor must fix any issues identified by the inspectors,” says Zachary Rose, founder of Rose Architects. “By skipping the permit process, you are at the mercy of the contractor and there is zero accountability for their work.”

Be smart about payments

female hand close-up hold a black purse in which dollars liealinabuphoto/ShutterstockDo not pay more than 25 to 33 percent of the total job cost as a deposit. Hold off on your final payment until the job is finished and you are satisfied with the completed work. Also, don’t make a final payment until you receive a lien waiver stating that the contractor has paid subcontractors and for supplies. These are things every homeowner needs to know ASAP.

Always pay with a credit card

Cropped image of businessman giving credit card from wallet at deskAndrey_Popov/ShutterstockPaying with a credit card will ensure that you have protection against scammers. Never pay in cash. Dishonest technicians will ask for money upfront and leave you with an unfinished job. If you pay with a credit card, your credit card company can work with you to dispute the charge.

Price match

Woman at home office using calculator and computer, calculating budgetLeszek Glasner/ShutterstockA low price tag for a big project might seem tempting, but make sure you do your research first. “Since lower prices may be offered due to cheaper equipment and a lack of experience, make sure to compare prices with other local businesses by calling to see what the average estimate of the job would be,” says Dwyer-Owens. More times than not, paying a higher price will get the job done correctly and save you money in the long run. Watch out for these secrets home inspectors won’t tell you.

Check the warranty

Engineer working on outdoor project and talking on phone goodluz/ShutterstockJeremy Anderson, owner of Aire Serv in Las Vegas, Nevada, encourages customers to always have their technician check the warranty on their broken item through the manufacturer. Many times, if the warranty is less than 10 years old you could have parts under warranty that you can get for free or at a discounted price. Some technicians may ignore the facts that the item is under warranty to make a little extra money.

Contact references

V Shem-Wee Kiong mahu teruskan tradisi emas

Peng Soon-Liu Ying berdepan undian sukar apabila dijangka menentang pasangan India, Pranaav Jerry Chopra-N.

BN likely to retain Anyi Ngau for Baram Parliamentary seat

11anyi_1523345158

MO,10/4/2018, MIRI: Barisan Nasional (BN) is likely to retain incumbent Anyi Ngau for Baram parliamentary seat, one of the largest constituencies in the country, in the 14th General Election (GE14). Assistant Minister for Local Goverment Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said, as of now, there was a strong indication that Anyi would be renominated for the second time as the BN candidate there.

“If there is any change of candidate, I think they (party) must consult me because Marudi state seat is the kingmaker for Baram seat,” Penguang, who is also Marudi assemblyman and Marudi Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, told reporters after chairing Marudi PDP election machinery meeting for Baram seat here today. Penguang said the Baram parliamentary seat has a total of 35,400 registered voters with Marudi state seat having 15,600 voters, followed by Telang Usan (10,700) and Mulu (9,100).

As for the GE14 preparation, he said, the party was confident that the Baram seat would remain as BN stronghold based on the past state and parliamentary election results. “I am very confident with the latest development and political climate, we can win by a big majority in GE14, easily at least by 1,000 majority votes and most probably bigger than that because we never lost in Baram,” he said.

He said BN’s slim win in the 13th General Election (GE13) was attributed to the last minute changing of BN candidate and internal problem in PDP but all the issues had been settled. In the GE13, Anyi who was then among the new faces contesting, had won the seat with a razor thin margin of 194 majority votes against PKR candidate Roland Engan.

He added the large crowd presence during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg’s visit to Marudi last week was unexpected and a good sign for BN. The GE14 will only involve the 31 parliamentary seats in the state as Sarawak held its state election for the 82 state seats in 2016.

Jangan pertikai tarikh pengundian PRU14
