MO,14/4/2018, KLUANG: The people have been reminded to avoid being tricked or influenced by the opposition’s use of last minute “slander bombs” Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the public must be prepared for such tactics which would be employed to instil hatred against Barisan Nasional (BN). “Be careful with the opposition’s slick political ploys,” he said at a meet-the-people event here.
“I urge everybody to not be influenced because, all this while, fake news has been used repeatedly to slander the BN government. “Remind your friends on social media, at the coffeeshops and other places to not be deceived by these ‘slander bombs’ that the opposition will deploy at the last minute because they will wait for the last moments to act.
“This tactic is used to confuse and deceive the people and they are willing to use an elderly leader with no value to achieve their goals. “For example, in the last general election, they claimed that the BN government had brought in 40,000 Bangladeshi immigrants to vote.”
Zahid said a BN study showed that Chinese and Indian voters nationwide were aware of the need to vote in BN candidates because they were the only ones who could be relied on. He said BN had proved this by meeting 99.4 per cent of the promises it made in its GE13 manifesto. “Don’t be like the opposition which only uses the constituencies where they contest as transit points and look for a new one when the election season comes again,” said Zahid.
“I would like to stress that Kluang, Mengkibol and Mahkota (constituencies) are not transit points and the people will reject those candidates.” Present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Kluang Umno chief Datuk Md Jais Sarday.
