Two teenagers nabbed for housebreaking

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested two teenage boys and launched a manhunt to track down two more accomplices on suspicion of being involved in housebreaking in Seberang Perai Tengah district.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the boys aged 13 and 15 years, were nabbed at Jalan Perniagaan Alma 2, at 4.45am after being reported to have broken into a house in Taman Impian Alma.

“The victim discovered his house was broken into when he woke up and saw the light of flashlight flickering in his room and as soon as he got up, the suspect fled. Among the items missing are a mobile phone and RM7,000 cash,” he said here on Friday.

He added that the two teenagers, who were expelled from school last year, were believed to have been involved in at least five housebreaking cases since last month.

In another case, Nik Ros Azhan said two teenagers aged 16 and 18 believed to be motorcycle theft gang members were detained in raid at a house in Kampung Baru Alma, near here on Thursday.

The suspects who were tested positive for drugs and had been expelled from school were picked up at 5 pm he said adding that police also recovered two motorcycles reported stolen, several motorcycle frames and components in the raid.

Meanwhile in Perak, five men, suspected of involvement in motorcycle theft around Ipoh and believed to have been active since three years ago were detained on Wednesday.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby said all the suspects aged between 18 and 26 were nabbed at a house near Kampung Tawas. — Bernama

Man, Indonesian wife nabbed with RM200,000 of drugs


MO,12/1/2018, KUCHING: An unemployed man and his Indonesian wife were arrested in a police raid yesterday for possessing RM200,000 worth of syabu and ecstasy pills. Acting on a tip-off and following weeks of surveillance, police seized 613.8g of syabu, 750 Eramin 5 pills and 140 ecstasy pills when they raided the suspect’s house in Muara Tabuan here at 4pm.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the raiding party arrested the 45-year-old man, who was carrying a sling bag, at the parking lot of his apartment. “Police found 2.1g of syabu and 100 Eramin 5 pills inside the sling bag.

“The raiding party later inspected the man’s house and arrested his 40-year-old wife. “We also found 611.7g of syabu, 140 ecstasy pills and 650 Eramin 5 pills, which was stuffed inside a plastic bag and placed inside one of the rooms,” he told reporters at the Kuching police headquarters here today.

Police, he said, also seized RM2,000 and a Toyota Vios belonging to the suspect to facilitate investigation into the case. Preliminary checks showed the suspect had been trafficking drugs since last year.

Abang Ahmad said both of them have been remanded for seven days and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence.
